It has to have at least 32gb of memory UNLESS it has a sd card slot. I dont want a cheap knock off it has to last for at least 5 years. It cant run on anything other than windows or mac. IT Has TO BE FAST. It has to have a built in wireless internet connecting thing. And 2 or more usb slots and has to have or be able to connect to a disk drive. P.S i would like to be ablr to play games on it for when i have studyhall. It can be an advanced computer/tablet or simple. I am very smart with computers. IT HAS TO HAVE BLUETOOTH AND HAS TO BOOT UP VERY VERY QUICKLY LIKE LESS THAN A MINUTE AND THATS IT WITH EVERYTHING LOADED AND READY TO USE!!!!!!!!!!!! IT NEEDS A MICROPHONE AND HAS TO HAVE A GOOD BATTERY LIFE LIKE ATLEAST 6 HOURS. It needs a keyboard built in if its a tablet. AND GOOD LOUD SPEAKERS. ALSO HAS TO HAVE A HEADPHONE PLUG IN. It also needs whatever software you think i need for school im in 7th going to 8th grade in middle school. Tell me what you think i need.
P.S Sorry about the mis-spelled words

I recommend the transformer prime. And if you want it top be more like a laptop, get the laptop dock. This combo would be a little pricy, more than an ipad, but it is better than the ipad.

Look around at other websites, for different prices. This is just my preference, preferred tablets are personal preference.

I bought and set up a Belkin N150 Wireless Router so that I could get internet on my android phone at home. Tried to connect per the directions but did not work. Not very good with computers. Can someone please help?

So I’m assuming you already had internet, but you needed the router for you cell phone only, correct? If so, then you have to search for the network you created on your Droid (don’t have one of those, so I can’t tell u how that part goes), input password/login info and connect.

Michael asks…
Hey there. Normally I simply enter the network security key to access my internet, but for some reason I keep getting authentication problems. I know it’s the correct key because I am successfully connected on my computer; I am now trying to connect with a tablet.
I think it might have to do with the WPS thing. I have a separate password from the access point for WPS. Do I have to put that before I put the WPA network key? If so, what does it do? Because I have put it before, but nothing’s happened.
I have a generic, no-name tablet, but it uses the Android system if that helps in terms of providing you with information about my problem.
@ Matt: Thanks for the answer, Matt! Can I do that if I am not the administrator? I am merely renting a room in a stranger’s house. I do have access to the modem, though.
Now, instead of saying “authentication problem”, it just keeps saying “connecting” over and over. It’s been doing that for the past 20 minutes.
I’m doing research about WPS pins and it says they are supposed to be 9-digits. The one on my router is only 8. Could this be the problem?
When I try to connect multiple times through WPS, it says that the WPS is still working and might take a while. How long should it take? It’s been hours (I’d been doing this for a while before I asked the question.)

Try resetting the password on the software that came with your router/modem. If it did not then you may have to contact your Internet Provider so they can access your router settings. Hope this helps!

Okay, so I have a xbox 360 and want to sign into xbox live. I have no router and no modem, just a laptop and my phone. I get internet from my phone to my laptop by usb tethering, it is an android phone by the way. So when i try to bridge the connections, it cant. So I used my dads phone (also android) and tethered it. I Go To Network And Sharing Center and change the phone to LAN (Local Area Network) and tried to connect to xbox live and it worked! But when i try with my fone the only options are either Wireless Network Or Network Bridge. So how can i change my phone to a local area network?? My computer is windows vista.

If you somehow manage to play xbox live through a phones internet connection, successfully then you will end up with one hell of a bill.
This will drain your internet & cost you a fortune.

I’m looking at buying the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8, but you have to update Android yourself from v1.6 to 2.1. The problem is, it only works on Windows computers and my personal computer is a Mac.
My dad has a Windows PC so I could do it from there, but then does that mean that the phone would always be connected to the PC and I wouldn’t be able to transfer music/photos onto the Mac? Or is using the Windows just for the update okay?
Thanks in advance

You will need a Windows™ computer to update the phone. However, you should be able to transfer files from your Macintosh™. Also, some X8 phones already come with 2.1 installed.

(Android), I want to transfer my photos to my PC and I read the following: Pull down the top bar on your phone and select USB connection. There you’ll find several ways that the phone can connect to the PC. Pick the one you want.
One hint: If Windows Media Sync doesn’t work for syncing media, try USB Mass Storage.
I can’t find a top bar to pull down, as described above. No instruction came with this Samsung cell phone.
Please note; I have a laptop with windows vista.

What top bar mean here is the bar where all the notification, the battery icon, clock and etci s placed. Just try slide the screen from top(from samsung word) to bottom. If something dropped down that it. Or try to touch the clock at the top most right of your phone screen, you’ll notice something appear after that. If nothing consider to buy a new phone.

Betty asks…
I just got an android, and i connected it to the computer and i was wondering if it was going to cost to tranfer the music from the pc, to the phone ?

No.

If like me you have virgin media and today found that you couldn’t visit the pirate bay because it’s been blocked, well here’s a workaround. This worked for me, if you have an iPhone 4S this will work. Make sure you disconnect your laptop or PC from your virgin connection, then disconnect your iPhones wifi. Then make your 4S a hotspot and then connect your laptop or PC to it. Now you can go to the pirate bay using your phones 3G, download the torrent files you want and then when your done reconnect your laptop or PC and then open the torrent file and it will download. This works because the trackers have not been blocked. I did this today with my iPhone 4S using my MacBook pro. I don’t know if android phones offer hotspot services to but check if you have a droid phone.

Yes there is here you go

I have a Samsung i5500 Galaxy and at home I connect to the Internet over our private wi-fi. The connection is fast, obviously. I am only having problems with some android apps like Angry Birds Space because it won’t start downloading. On my notifications it stays under the On going downloads but after 2 seconds it disappears and it doesn’t install on my phone. Other apps work well, I installed Inotia 3 and it worked fine. I badly want Angry Birds Space on my phone but it doesn’t really start downloading, not even from my PC. Help please?

You will get a lot more advice by posting this on the android forum (phandroid). It’s a good place to get advice on android phone problems.

ok so i own a samsung galaxy s mobile phone. I live in the UK iam on tmobile and i bought the phone from Carphone warehouse last month. Since i hve had the phone i have never been able to connect my phone to samsung kies on the computer. This has never really been a problem for but however i have just heard that the phone will be updated from android 2.1 to android 2.2 and i you get the update threw the computer which is a problem to me. When i connect the device in Kies mode it ust searches for the device, this can go on for as long as 4 hours!!! but when i connect the phone in mass storage mode it connects to the phone no problem and simply asks me to reconnect the phone in Kies mode and the same thing happens. Should i return the phone to carphone warehouse or is there a solution to my problem, thankyou

Hiya love, I have a samsung galaxy portal and got the kies cd to put on my computer too. I eventaully managed to upload the cd to my computer, only for the installation to give me over 80 trojans! So I uninstalled it straight away and ran all my scans. I’ve ended up buying a bluetooth device to swap mp3′s and videos etc. That’s my only option for you with the bluetooth device. Mine cost £3 off ebay. It’s worth it’s weight in gold :0) xx

I own a Samsung Transform from Sprint. I used to be able to connect it to my computer to transfer music, pictures, etc. Now, when I plug it into the computer, the phone doesn’t recognize that it’s plugged in. The computer does, but I don’t get the option to “Mount” my phone for USB storage in my notifications.

Perhaps you do not have the correct drivers for the USB or phone. Try to google ur USB drivers. If your computer has USB 1.0 that may also be the problem

I got an Android (Samsung Galaxy Mini) and I connected it to my laptop to put songs on it. So then I was prompted to insert the disc I got with the phone but I didn’t get any disc! So I clicked the option ‘I don’t have a disc alternative etc’ and it said it couldn’t find an alternative. So I’m basically stuck with no music on it. Please help, also my computer suggested websites or something so if that helps

Its simple. First of all you need to have a memory card on your phone. Connect the phone to your laptop. Under settings on your phone connect the phone as a ‘Mass Storage’ device. Copy the songs from your PC to the phone (By clicking the phone as a device).
Or you could download samsung kies and follow the steps to synchronise the music on your PC and phone (http://androidadvices.com/galaxy-tab-sync-transfer-files-music-photos-pc/#axzz1i7LXjOH9 )

I plug in my phone (samsung nexus) to my computer and its supposed to bring up the USB storage screen on my phone and charges your phone as well. It charges, so it’s connecting to my laptop but the USB storage won’t pop up? Why?

It may be the usb driver issues, download the latest usb driver for your Samsung Nexus. You can go to the Samsung website, or i find a website for you

Okay, so I have a Android Galaxy S phone. (Mesmerize) And I connect it via USB cable, but, though it charges, it won’t recognize my phone itself on the computer. I’d like to transfer files and things, but it’s impossible if it can’t recognize of course. When connected, no sound, no little notification, no error message, just nothing, while on the phone, it shows nothing other then it’s charging, so even when I go to Settings>USB settings>Ask on connection, it never even recognizes its connected, even though it’s charging, so they’re both stupid liars. xp But yeah. I’ve tried the “Mass Storage” Option, I’ve tried “Samsung Kies” (I have it on my computer too-but to no help, the program doesn’t recognize most if not nearly all of my music files anyway-even if I’ve converted them to mp3). I’ve called the computer company, no help. I tried to go to Settings>Wireless & Networks>Tethering, but it says “No USB device connected” even if I can see that they are in fact connected with my naked eye. So what do I do?
Devices:
*Phone: Samsung Galaxy S Mesmerize (Android)
*Computer: VAIO – Windows Home Premium 7 64-bit Operating System (White Laptop)
If you plan to answer, please do so, but do not be a b-tch about it.
Be polite & helpful, thanks!

You need to go to samsung and download the KIES software. Its free and used to sync the phone. It is like the Blackerry desktop software, or itunes.

Exactly what I said is what I mean.. If I go and buy lets say the bundle at walmart for an android tablet pc will I have to pay monthly to use it? Or can I just use internet on it to connect to my home internet wireless? I am just debating if it is even worth buying a tablet since I already pay for internet and phone I don’t really want an additional bill each month.

If you buy one that just has wifi it will connect to any wireless network so no re-occuring change, but if you get one that has a 3g card then yes you will need to take out a contract so there will be a re-occuring charge.

Is there any other way to download android apps from Google Play Store to my Samsung Nexus phone using the USB connected to my PC rather than via Wi-Fi or the cell phone providers Internet, as I’m not able to download anything presently!

1.Search for .apk file of the app you need on Google.
2.Download the .apk file and necessary sdcard data if avaliable.
3.Copy the .apk file on your sdcard. Then Install the File.
4.Place the sdcard data in folder specified (if available).

I tried officially updating my phone then it failed and it is stuck on a “Downloading…” screen with the android shoveling and a triangle sign. It sometimes gets stuck on the screen that shows a PC and a phone connecting but with an exclamation mark between them. Any help on what I need to do? Thanks.

I was told that I can “tether” my laptop to get the internet by my phone connection. I have an Android. I went to download the application and it says it can connect for a PC laptop. I have a Mac…… is there an application where I can connect for my Mac? I need internet on my laptop!!!

If your phone supports mobile hotspot then go to, Settings -> Wireless & Network settings -> then mobile hotspot. If not, you can use pdanet, get the application from the market and get the mac application from http://www.junefabrics.com/android/ The free version will still work after the trial period, just you can’t connect to secure websites…
